In 1922 a visionary built one of the first co-operative apartments in the western United States. The Artaban in Long Beach, California was organized and built by Lionel V. Mayell. After many other successful condominium projects in California, Mr. Mayell came to Houston in 1962 to develop the crowning jewel of his enterprises. His gift to Houston, The Ambassador at Post Oak was conceived as a first generation new-build condominium apartment home development with the design motif - "Condominium Living with a Touch of sheer Elegance in the old South tradition." To quote the original sales brochure - "The Ambassador at Post Oak is for those who seek the best.... What River Oaks, born in the 1920's, became and what Tanglewood, spawned during the 1950's symbolizes in fine homes, is what The Ambassador at Post Oak will certainly become in its new concept of luxury living."

The Ambassador is located in Houston’s "Uptown District" centered around the Galleria Post Oak area. The uptown district weaves a thriving business district, acclaimed retail stores, restaurants, luxury hotels, condominium and apartment towers, and prestigious residential neighborhoods with Houston’s natural beauty into a vibrant community known as Uptown.
The building comprises three floors with two wings seperated by a 27 foot high lobby. Secure covered parking is provided by a basement garage. The garage level also features two laundry rooms and storage lockers for each apartment. All floors share essentially the same layout containing 9 units each side varying in size from approximately 910 sq ft to 1400 sq ft. Unlike many Houston high and mid rise properties, The Ambassador at Post Oak has substantial outdoor space. The Ambassador has landscaped gardens on both sides and a formal garden in the center court. The Condominium Association also maintains an olympic size pool, a spacious front lawn and a 20 car guest parking area. Security is an important feature at The Ambassador. Entry into the building is controlled with a state of the Entraguard / MP Telephonic access control system and monitored twenty-four hours a day by Closed Circuit TV cameras at all entrances.
Residents of The Ambassador at Post Oak enjoy the amenities of both the neighborhood and the condominium. The location in the Uptown / Galleria area is probably the best amenity of all. The Ambassador is within walking distance of the Galleria Shopping Center and the shops along South Post Oak Boulevard, access to health clubs and award winning restaurants is just a stroll across the street. The Ambassador at Post Oak is a condominium run by the Ambassador Owners Association. An elected Board of Directors serves and represents the owners and overseas the management of the building and associated services. The Board has contracted with KRJ Management, Inc. to manage the property. KRJ Management, Inc. specializes in the management of homeowner associations and currently manages over 100 condominium and townhome properties in the Houston area. KRJ entered the homeowner association management profession in 1978 in conjunction with the development of condominium properties. This provided the opportunity to understand the developer's role in establishing the homeowner association as well as planning community services. The experience of working on both sides of the fence - for the developer and as association manager - has provided a special benefit to their knowledge of association management. KRJ Management is a member of Community Associations Institute (CAI), a national organization formed in 1973 to develop and distribute guidance on homeowner associations.
